Check out our recap of the Annual RiverKeeper Sweep at South Street Park in the City of Newburgh, New York! In partnership with the City of Newburgh Conservation Advisory Council, Outdoor Promise, and the Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy, our community gathered on May 7, 2022, to collect litter and debris from the shoreline and nearby areas, helping maintain the river’s health and beauty and the surrounding environment.
With 28 participants, including partners and the general public, we were one of the largest groups participating in the Hudson River cleanup project. We collected 32 bags of trash plus various larger types of debris, significantly impacting the cleanliness of our park and river. South Street Park is a public park situated on the banks of the Hudson River in the City of Newburgh, New York that offers stunning views of the water and surrounding area. However, the park has not yet been fully developed, and there is still work to be done.
We hope the work continues with Scenic Hudson and the city government, who have already created initial park development plans. Despite its current state, the park remains a beautiful and peaceful spot that provides a glimpse into the natural beauty of the Hudson River.
